Industrologic, Inc., announces the release of their DIO51 Single Board Computer.
The Industrologic DIO51 is an Atmel AT89C51RC2 microcontroller based single board computer designed to be an easy to use and versatile development platform for Flash memory based microcontrollers using In System Programming (ISP) through the serial port. Its convenient screw terminal block connections, along with its optional ABS plastic enclosure, allow it to be used as a general purpose I/O controller assembly as well.
The DIO51 includes on-board RESET and PSEN switches for easy entry into ISP mode, and the microcontroller chip can be programmed using a number of software development tools available for Atmel microcontrollers. The DIO51 is also compatible with the Philips/NXP P89C51Rx2 series and P89V51Rx2 series of microcontrollers, which can be programmed with software development tools available for these microcontrollers.
Communication with the DIO51 is accomplished via a serial RS-232 port with true RS-232 interface and a DB9F connector that matches a PC compatible serial port pinout. Convenient screw terminal block connections are used for all signals and power, which includes the three 8 bit microcontroller ports P0, P1, and P2, plus the signals T1, INT0, and INT1. The board includes a +5 power supply capable of powering external circuits and a pin-type power connector for easy connection to wall block power supplies.
The DIO51 includes a simple monitor program written specially for the hardware on the DIO51, preprogrammed into the microcontroller. This program allows the DIO51 to be immediately used as a simple RS-232 slave I/O controller, or for testing external devices during development. The source code for this program, plus other sample programs, is included with the DIO51.
The DIO51 is available as a complete circuit board assembly, and can be enclosed in an optional ABS plastic enclosure. The circuit board is 2.75 by 4.25 by 0.75 inches, while the enclosure is 3.6 by 6.0 by 1.6 inches total size including mounting tabs.
The DIO51 package is shipped complete with all items necessary to immediately begin application development, including a serial port cable for connection to a PC compatible computer, a wall-block power supply, host computer software and programming examples, and a hardware reference manual including schematics.
