DB9MMNM gender changer/null modem - $10
(Sold only with other Industrologic products)
The RS-232 serial port on Industrologic products uses a DB9F connector that is wired so that a DB9M to DB9F cable with pin-to-pin wiring (a standard cable which is included with Industrologic products) can be connected directly to the serial port of a PC compatible computer.
By utilizing a DB9MMNM, the serial ports of two Industrologic products can be easily connected to each other for communication using this standard cable. Typically the adapter will be attached to the DB9F connector on an Industrologic product with its self contained screws, and will have a cable attached to its self contained jackposts with the screws on the mating cable.
The DB9MMNM can also be used to allow an Industrologic product to be connected to and communicate with other devices that have cables designed to connect to PC compatible serial ports.
The DB9MMNM is wired in a manner similar to most null modem adapters, that is, the transmit and receive signals are reversed and the ground is straight through. Since some Industrologic products have a power connection at pin 9 of their serial port connector, this pin is also connected straight through on the DB9MMNM.
The width of the adapter is 1.3 inches wide and the total length is 2.5 inches. When plugged into a DB9F it will extend the connection 2.3 inches.
