Industrologic, Inc., announces the release of their Alarm232, RS-232 Port Monitoring and Alarm Program.

Alarm232 is a serial port monitoring program can identify selected character strings received by a serial port and report alarm conditions based on those strings. By using Alarm232 and Industrologic products with switch or contact closure inputs, you can create facilities alarm systems, test station alarms, and communication system alarms.

The Industrologic products DR51, TC51, SI51, SI5120, IC51, DIO51, SBC-1, and SIO-1000 all have inputs that can read switches and send character strings to a serial port to be monitored by Alarm232.

Alarm232 is a compact Win32 application in a small single .exe file, with fully selectable communication parameters for the serial port. Various options exist for the reception of a variety of character string messages and their termination characters. Alarm232 can poll devices for messages or can simply wait for messages in response to a condition that has changed.

Up to 500 alarms can be defined, each with its own name, alarm message, and character string to match. Alarm232 also includes an option to view the incoming messages for troubleshooting purposes.
